CONGRATULATIONS to the newly selected cast and creative team for Petalwink: The Musical! Next steps including writing the musical and a creative development and flying workshop (CAMP PETALWINK) in August 2013. Videos of “the making of” will be posted here soon. Check back to find out how you can be a vital part in helping Petalwink fly!
OVERVIEW: The popular, adorable and inspiring children’s book series based on the sprightly, purple-haired Petalwink the Fairy is in development to become a flying, musical sensation for the stage. Petalwink, known for her adventures with fairy and animal friends and positive messages for kids, and her vibrantly colorful, magical home of Newman Forest, will come to life on stage through innovative aerial choreography, lush costumes, and an intriguing storyline featuring rich characters and charming forest creatures. True to Petalwink’s form, the production will be a fun and contemporary spectacle that will be interactive and inspiring to children of all ages. The nationally touring show will share its message of self-worth, courage, and generosity in theaters and with school audiences. After the show, actors trained to do a talk back with their young audiences will lead a discussion on the story’s themes, encouraging students to face challenges and believe in themselves. A few young audience members will even be invited to come on stage to participate in an activity which culminates in declaring, “I’m glad to be me!” and actually flying (in a harness), just like Petalwink!
